BioAfter twenty years of retail and nearly thirty years (on and off) of playing the violin, it finally dawned on me (with a little help from my friends) to combine the two. Now I work at (and am the unofficial Brand Evangelist for) The Electric Violin Shop. We're the only specialty retailer in the world whose entire focus is on electric bowed strings. We carry pickups, piezo bridges, and preamps for acoustic and acoustic-electric violins, and we have the largest selection of individual solid-body electric violins on the planet. It's possibly the coolest job in all of existence, IMO.
When I'm not hawking electric violins on various street corners (some real and some virtual), I'm trying to practice enough to get decent again with my own violin playing and trying to get disciplined enough to get finished with a couple of my own novels. I'm previously a semi-published novelist (a collaboration with my ex-wife, now completely out-of-print).
I also facilitate the monthly meetings of the Triangle Polyamory Network, a Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill based monthly discussion group. If you're in the area, and you'd like more information, send an email requesting information about TPN to tripoly_net@hotmail.com.
